Purpose and
Objectives
The meeting
unites professionals engaged in the practice and study of
medical laboratory immunology and provides an opportunity to enhance their
knowledge of immunologic principles and their application to
immune mediated disorders. Attendees will hear experts in
the field present new and cutting-edge information about the
pathogenesis, diagnosis, monitoring and treatment of
immunological disorders. This meeting will also highlight
new discoveries in immunology and novel and emerging
technologies in laboratory medicine. Finally, this annual
meeting offers the individual not only a format for learning but
also for collaborations and essential interactions vital to
their development and growth.
After attending the
meeting, attendees should be able to:
1. Discuss the various
immune-based therapies and the current HPV vaccine information
and identify strategies for the laboratory monitoring of these
immune modulating agents.
2. Discuss the most current laboratory assays used to evaluate
transplant and autoimmune patients and discuss advances in
therapy and laboratory monitoring for transplant and autoimmune
patients.
3. Identify current and emerging technologies to monitor immune
mediated diseases.
4. Discuss translational research topics including inflammatory
biomarkers of cardiovascular disease & atherosclerosis, role of
autoantibodies in cancer, mechanisms of anti-cytokine therapies
and impact of nanotechnology to diagnostic testing.
5. Participate in speaker-directed discussions of relevant case
studies.
ACCREDITATION
The AMLI is
accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical
Education to sponsor continuing medical education for
physicians.
DESIGNATION
The AMLI designates
this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 16
AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians
should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their
participation in the educational activity.
