Maria Willrich received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Brazil in December 2011 and completed a clinical chemistry post-doctoral fellowship program at Mayo Clinic in 2014. She has held the position of co-director in the Protein and Antibody Immunology Laboratories and the Clinical Mass Spectrometry Laboratory in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN since 2014. She is an associate program director of the Mayo Clinic Clinical Chemistry Fellowship Program. Dr. Willrich is an executive officer of the Division of Diagnostic Immunology with the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) and member of a working group for reporting standardization of protein electrophoresis of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC). She is currently an Assistant Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. Her research projects have focused on monoclonal antibody therapeutics, the complement system, and laboratory testing for the monoclonal gammopathies and analysis of protein in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). Peer-reviewed publications authored by Willrich and colleagues include 40 full length articles and >50 abstracts. During her time at Mayo Clinic, she has been a mentor to 10 fellows and residents.
